課程概述

Citizen science (CS) is a field that has emerged in the last two decades to contribute to the advancement of academic research and to raise citizens' awareness of research knowledge production and environmental education through citizen participation. In the past few years, CS has been practiced in university curricula in Europe and the United States. Through practical implementation, participants can understand the process of CS data production and dispel the myth that traditional experience of using CS data in research analysis produces data bias. The half part of the course will introduce the development and scope of CS, focusing on how climate factors and human activities affect biological phenology and distribution. Another part of the course will use iNaturalist as the main platform for students to upload data on species and phenological conditions, and to coalesce and externally initiate CS issues, and then work in groups to write and review articles produced in the course.

課程目標
The course expects students to be personally involved in the development of CS and to have the opportunity to make CS an essential element in shaping their own issues.
